Priscilla M. Grinage

Ms. Priscilla Grinage is a native Bostonian born and raised in the city of Boston, Massachusetts. She moved to Georgia twenty-one years ago, and now resides in Atlanta. Priscilla is a product of the Boston Public School System where her love for exploration in travel and education began, although she did not know at the time that it would lead to a life of educating others. She was born into the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church where Livingstone College was spoken very highly of and therefore, after graduating from ACC College Preparatory High School, she made Livingstone College her first choice to further her education.

While matriculating under the Maples and the Oaks of Livingstone College, Priscilla majored in Business Management. She also joined the Prayer Meeting Choir, Concert Choir, and Julia B Duncan Players. Priscilla also served as the secretary on the Freshman Student Government Association and as Co-Captain of the Blue Bear Cheer Leading Squad.

Priscilla graduated from Livingstone College in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management and began her career in finance training bank sellers for what is now Citizens Bank in Boston. From there she moved into selling Mutual Funds for Mellon Financial Corporation when she hit what we call the “glass ceiling” and her career I finance began to shatter. It was at that point she answered her true calling in Education by taking a one day substitute position that turned into one year, and subsequently has turned into 21 years of educating children and adults.

In 1995 Priscilla received her M. Ed. In Elementary Education & Integrated Studies K-8 from Cambridge College and just recently in May of 2015 received her Ed. S. in Educational Leadership P-12 from Mercer University. Through her teaching career she has served on several School Leadership Teams and held the positions of Science Chair, Grade Level Chair, Professional Development Liaison and Trainer, ELA Facilitator and Trainer, and Reading Facilitator and Trainer. In 2004 she was recognized and named Teacher of the Year for Henry M Turner Middle School in the Atlanta Public School System. Today, Ms. Grinage teaches Third Grade Reading and English Language Arts at Meadowview Elementary School in the Dekalb County School District. She is part of the Literacy Learning Intervention Team and Title I Liaison. Ms. Grinage is actively involved with the Livingstone College Alumni Association of Metro Atlanta as the Event Coordinator, and sits on the Board of M. A. D. I. O. C., Inc. (Making a Difference in Our Communities).

Above all of these accomplishments her faith in God is what has brought her through. She considers herself to be a child of God, and worships at St. Paul AME Church in Atlanta, Georgia, where she is a member of the Wings of Spirit Liturgical Dance Ministry and the Praise and Worship Team.
